Chalkyitsik is a small village of Native Athabaskan people, and consists of 30 homes, a state-operated school and a small store. Access in winter is by plane or snowmachine; in summer, by boat. Resources and supplies are extremely limited.
Our vision is to build a church, which we know will have a positive impact on the community. We ask you to prayerfully consider being a part of the project through financial support. We hope to raise $45,000 which will be used to purchase logs, portable sawmill, metal roofing, windows, plywood, insulation and miscellaneous building materials.
The building will be approximately 28×36, with a back room (14×28) to be used for storage and a parsonage. The building will have electric lighting and will be heated with a wood stove. There is no sewage or water in the village, so an outhouse will have to be constructed, and water will need to be hauled. Pew and furniture will be built onsite.
